Gettin’ there!

Wednesday, February 25th, 2009

I am 37 weeks along as of yesterday!  The baby dropped the last few days so we are on the right track.  The doctor has confirmed that baby is facing the exit (head down) so that is a relief!  Ella was a week late so I keep preparing myself that it could be a while yet.

Joel is biting his tongue through my nesting tendencies.  I mean, is it too much to ask that the entire basement be re-done right NOW?  Oh yes, and please order a new dresser, paint the living room, move all the linens, organize the storage closet, clean the car, stain the front door, touch up the ceiling, and on and on.  I am also not sleeping very well so I want to chat, chat, chat in bed at night.  He is trying to humor me…or pretending to be asleep already! Hmmph! Oh, and sweetie, love, honey, could you please stay with Ella each night so I can go to all my last minute ministry meetings?  Thanks!  And you don’t mind if I snap at you every once in a while, just because, right?

I had Joel put the infant seat in the car this week and Ella is very intrigued.  She keeps talking about how the baby will ride in that seat.  I think she has caught on that we are serious and a REAL baby will be coming to our house!  She is very nurturing and LOVES babies…but she also loves attention from mommy and daddy so we will see how it goes!

Lovin & singin

There’s nothing better than Ella’s new morning tradition! Every morning, right when i walk out the door, Ella says, “Dad…I love you!”. Also, I caught Ella and Mommy singin in bed - adorable!!!

Two Years Old!

Sunday, February 1st, 2009

Our baby is two years old! Eloise Kimberly is an energetic, loving, little girl.  She loves playing baby-dolls and is obsessed with Snow White but she also likes to run with a football and wrestle with Daddy.  She is active but also affectionate.  She is VERY social and will do anything to be with her friends or her cousins.  She has very strong affections for the people in our life - talking often about each family member and our best friends.  She is a very passionate person - so quick to smile and laugh but also very quick to make her objections known.  We can’t wait to see what God has in store for this little firecracker!

Ellie was born on January 29, 2007 at 5:13am. Last year, on her first birthday, I convinced Joel to wake up at 5:13am and pray with me to thank God for the gift of this amazing little girl.  This year, I asked Joel the night before if we could wake up again to pray and he said, “You know, the thing is, I am SO much more thankful at 7:13am then at 5:13am.”  Haha! I was up for one of my many trips to the bathroom around 4:30am so I prayed my thanks then and again when I went to get my jabbering toddler from her bed in the morning.

We loved on our little girl all day.  She took cupcakes to playschool and all of her friends made a big deal about her birthday.

My sister sent her a pink birthday dress - so cute!  Here she is dressed up for playschool - even though it was frozen ice outside!  (Look, we are teaching her how to smile for the camera!)

After her nap, she went to Aunt Lora’s to be spoiled for a little bit so Mommy could get her birthday dinner ready.

I was set that we were not having a party this year.  But, we are so blessed to have Joel’s family in town and some very dear friends that a small celebration just “happened”.  My mom sent all sorts of Snow White and pink princess decorations for the fun!

If you haven’t heard it, Ella has been singing happy birthday to herself all month!  She clapped for everyone else’s version!

Yum, pink frosting!  (Shhhh, I let her have two!)

Daddy, Ellie, Mommy - she loves the cake!

Cake smooch!

Presents!  “Thank you Aunt Lo-la (Lora)!”

“Now, how do I get this open?”

Ella’s highlight of the night - Snow White came to her party! (Miss Gracie gave her a Snow White wig and her friend Taylor was all about it!  She put on Ellie’s dress and shoes for a little show!)

Ellie’s best girlfriends - Taylor and Violet (and probably my favorite moment of the night!)

Joel couldn’t resist a game with his nephews - basically involved making them kiss his toes!  (This would probably be HIS favorite moment of the night!)

And here is our little one with her birthday gifts.  I think it will be so cool for her to look back and see the gifts she loved when she was little.

Just for fun, here is the photo from last year!  She has grown so much!

Eloise, you are our sunshine!  We are so thankful to be your parents!  You are so special!  Love you baby!
